Manage Members and Admins

A community has one owner, any number of admins, and its members. Here is what each can do and how to change someone's role.

Updated September 30, 2026

Who Can Do What

  • Members can post, join events, donate and invite people.
  • Admins can also approve join requests, add or remove admins, remove or suspend members, edit the community, and create events, campaigns and live streams.
  • The owner can do everything an admin can, and is the only one who sets up payouts, hands the community to someone else or deletes it.

Make Someone an Admin

  1. Open your community's settings and tap Members under Members & Permissions.
  2. Open the menu next to the person.
  3. Choose Make Admin. To undo it, choose Switch to Member in the app or Demote admin on the website.

The owner cannot be removed or made a member. To step back, hand the community to someone else first.

Approve Join Requests

Requests to join a private community appear under Membership Requests. Accept or decline each one, or accept or decline them all at once.

Remove or Suspend Someone

From the same menu next to the person, choose Remove User or Suspend Member in the app, or Remove or Suspend on the website.

Hand the Community to Someone Else

  1. Make sure the new owner is already a member or an admin of the community.
  2. If the community is raising money, the new owner sets up their own payouts first.
  3. Open Danger Zone in the community's settings and choose Transfer Ownership.

Once you transfer it, you are no longer an admin, and you may no longer be a member. The new owner can add you back.
