Set Up Your Community's Settings

Choose who can join and message you, set your prayer times, and show them on a screen at your masjid.

Updated September 30, 2026

Find Your Settings

In the app, open your community, tap Switch to Admin, then the settings button. On the website, open My Communities, choose Switch to Admin on the community, then its settings.

Public or Private

Under Requests & Access Settings, choose public so anyone can join, or private so an admin approves each request.

Who Can Message Your Community

Under Chat Settings, choose who can message the community: anyone, verified members only, or admins only. You can also hold new chats until you approve them and set quiet hours.

Announcements to Every Member

Every admin can send an announcement to all members at once from Messages. To keep this to the owner, turn off Allow other admins to send announcements in Chat Settings.

Prayer Times

Under Prayer Times, choose how your times are decided. Calculate for our address works them out every day from your community's address and marks them as calculated. Our own schedule lets you pick the calculation method and Asr, set each iqama as minutes after the adhan or as a fixed time, and add each Jumuah. If UMMA already reads your masjid's published timetable, it shows as Our published timetable. Under Hijri date, you can move the Islamic date a day or two for your local moon sighting.

Show It on a Screen

Install the UMMA TV app on a TV in your masjid or hall, and it shows a pairing code. Open Display Manager, choose Add New Device, type or scan the code, then name the screen and pick one of six designs. It shows your prayer times, your logo, your community's posts and the notices you post for it; a notice with a flyer shows as its own slide.
