A pillar of Islam. Purify your wealth by giving 2.5% of it to the people it is owed to.
Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Muslims who meet the nisab threshold give 2.5% of their qualifying wealth each year. Your Zakat reaches only the categories of recipient defined in Surah At Tawbah (9:60). On UMMA that means it is restricted to Zakat eligible campaigns, and you can see which campaigns those are before you give.
