About

Hot meals for families facing war, hunger, and cold nights.

Sudan's crisis hasn't slowed down; it has deepened. After months of conflict and collapse, millions of families are displaced, struggling to find food, safety, and the most basic protection. As winter nights turn colder, parents are trying to keep children warm while their stomachs are empty.

For families living in makeshift shelters, overcrowded camps, or damaged homes, a hot meal is more than food; it is warmth, strength, and dignity.

This winter, UMMA Foundation is on the ground providing hot meals to help families survive the season and reduce suffering in the hardest-hit communities.

Sudan's Winter Crisis in Numbers

  • 30.4 million people need humanitarian assistance in 2025.
  • 21.2 million people face acute hunger (IPC).
  • ~10 million people are displaced; about half are children.
  • Famine conditions have been confirmed in besieged areas including El Fasher and Kadugli.

Without urgent support, winter conditions will continue to worsen living conditions for thousands of households.

Our Winter Mission in Sudan: Hot Meals That Bring Warmth

UMMA Foundation's winter response is focused on one urgent goal:

Deliver hot meals to families who need warmth and nutrition the most.

Your support helps us provide:

  • 🍲 Hot meal distributions for displaced families
  • 🧒 Priority support for children and vulnerable households
  • 🤲 Dignified relief that reaches people where they are; fast
  • ✅ Consistent distributions during the coldest weeks of the season

A hot meal can mean:

  • a child sleeps warmer
  • a mother has strength to keep going
  • a family makes it through another night

Why Give Now And Before Winter Gets Worse

Winter doesn't wait, and displaced families can't "pause" their hunger.

Your support today helps us:

  • deliver meals while needs are at their highest
  • reach children before cold + hunger turns into illness
  • provide immediate relief that restores stability and dignity

Sudan

What Is Happening

War has emptied whole neighborhoods in Sudan. Families who had a home in the morning are sleeping somewhere else by the evening, and the markets that used to feed them are closed, looted, or priced out of reach.

What UMMA Is Doing

We work with local kitchens and volunteers who are already inside these communities. Together we cook and hand out hot meals, and we go back to the same places so families can count on it. Your donation buys the ingredients, the fuel, and the transport.

Common Questions

  • Is my donation secure?

Card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. We see the amount, the campaign and the receipt address, nothing else.

  • Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes, to the extent allowed by law. You receive a receipt for every donation, and all of them are in My Donations, in the UMMA app or your dashboard on the web.

  • Can I give my Zakat to UMMA?

Yes, and only to campaigns marked Zakat eligible. Zakat is restricted to the categories in Surah At Tawbah (9:60), so UMMA will not let it be applied anywhere else. If no eligible campaign is open, we say so rather than route it elsewhere.

  • How do you decide where donations go?

Donations go to the campaign you choose, and that campaign shows its own progress. If you donate without choosing one, funds go where the need is greatest at that moment.

  • Can I cancel a recurring donation?

Yes, at any time, in My Donations in the UMMA app or on the web. No email and no phone call. Gave without an account? The link in your receipt email cancels it.

  • Something went wrong with my donation. Who do I tell?

Email hello@ummafoundation.org with the receipt number and a person replies. Refunds follow the refund policy on this site.

  • What happens if this campaign does not reach its goal?

The work carries on with what was raised. Donations are not held back waiting for a total and they are not moved to another campaign: they go to this one, and the progress bar shows exactly where it stands.

  • What happens if it raises more than its goal?

It keeps accepting donations and the extra goes to the same work. A goal is what we planned for, not a cap on the need, and a campaign that has passed its goal is still the campaign you chose.
