Winter Is Coming: and Gaza Is Not Ready

A Ceasefire in the Cold
The bombs have stopped, but a new battle has begun, the battle against the cold.As winter approaches, more than two million people in Gaza face freezing nights without homes, heat, or shelter.
Families are still living under plastic sheets, tents, or the ruins of what used to be their homes. The silence of war has given way to a new kind of fear: the fear of surviving winter without warmth.
Gaza's Winter Crisis in Numbers: October 2025
- 🏚 1.9 million people displaced, nearly 90% of Gaza's population have lost their homes.
- 🧒 Over half of all children face hunger, malnutrition, or exposure to cold.
- 💧 70% of Gaza's water systems are damaged or destroyed, leaving families without safe water.
- 🩺 Only 13 of 36 hospitals remain partially functional, medical care is collapsing just as winter arrives.
Each of these numbers hides a story, a mother trying to keep her child warm, a father rebuilding walls from rubble, a community bracing for cold with no protection.
Our Winter Mission: Keep Gaza Warm
UMMA Foundation has been standing with Gaza since day one, delivering food, clean water, education, and emergency care. Now, as the cold season approaches, our mission turns to protecting families from the winter ahead.
Your Support Provides:
- 🧥 Winter Coats and Clothing – protection from freezing winds for children and mothers.
- 🧣 Thermal Blankets – warmth for families sleeping under makeshift shelters.
- 🏕️ Waterproof Tents and Tarps – shielding those whose homes are gone.
- 🪵 Heating Fuel and Firewood – helping families survive long, cold nights.
- 🍲 Hot Meals and Clean Water – sustaining strength through the harsh months.
Every blanket, every coat, every donation is a shield against the cold, and a promise that Gaza is not forgotten.
Why Give Now: Before Winter Hits
- The ceasefire offers a brief window to deliver aid safely.
- Temperatures will drop sharply in just weeks, and families are still unprotected.
- Every moment of delay risks lives.

What Is Happening
Families in Gaza have been displaced again and again, and the markets, clinics and water systems they relied on are gone. Hunger here is not a slow decline. It arrives in weeks, and it reaches children first.
What UMMA Is Doing
We work through kitchens and medical teams already inside these communities, because they know which streets to reach and they are there before we are. Your donation buys ingredients, fuel, medicine and the transport that gets all three to families who cannot travel to collect them.
Common Questions
Is my donation secure?
Card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. We see the amount, the campaign and the receipt address, nothing else.
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes, to the extent allowed by law. You receive a receipt for every donation, and all of them are in My Donations, in the UMMA app or your dashboard on the web.
Can I give my Zakat to UMMA?
Yes, and only to campaigns marked Zakat eligible. Zakat is restricted to the categories in Surah At Tawbah (9:60), so UMMA will not let it be applied anywhere else. If no eligible campaign is open, we say so rather than route it elsewhere.
How do you decide where donations go?
Donations go to the campaign you choose, and that campaign shows its own progress. If you donate without choosing one, funds go where the need is greatest at that moment.
Can I cancel a recurring donation?
Yes, at any time, in My Donations in the UMMA app or on the web. No email and no phone call. Gave without an account? The link in your receipt email cancels it.
Something went wrong with my donation. Who do I tell?
Email hello@ummafoundation.org with the receipt number and a person replies. Refunds follow the refund policy on this site.
What happens if this campaign does not reach its goal?
The work carries on with what was raised. Donations are not held back waiting for a total and they are not moved to another campaign: they go to this one, and the progress bar shows exactly where it stands.
What happens if it raises more than its goal?
It keeps accepting donations and the extra goes to the same work. A goal is what we planned for, not a cap on the need, and a campaign that has passed its goal is still the campaign you chose.
