š² Ramadan in Sudan: Feed Fasting Families in Crisis
Sudan is facing one of the world's most severe humanitarian emergencies.Conflict, displacement, and economic collapse have left millions struggling to secure even one daily meal.
As Ramadan unfolds, thousands of families are fasting without knowing if they will have food to break their fast at sunset.
This Ramadan, UMMA Foundation is on the ground delivering hot Iftar meals to vulnerable families across Sudan ensuring they can break their fast with dignity and nourishment.

Hunger During Ramadan Cannot Be Ignored
Sudan is currently experiencing:
- One of the largest displacement crises in the world
- Severe food insecurity affecting millions
- Skyrocketing food prices and collapsed livelihoods
- Widespread dependence on humanitarian aid
Families have lost homes, income, and access to stable food supplies.
For many households:
- Cooking fuel is scarce
- Markets are inaccessible
- Basic ingredients are unaffordable
Fasting without proper nourishment places children, elderly individuals, and vulnerable populations at serious health risk.
Ramadan should be a month of reflection and peace; not hunger and uncertainty.
Our Ramadan Mission: Hot Iftar Meals
UMMA Foundation is implementing daily hot Iftar meal distributions throughout Ramadan in Sudan.
Our teams are:
- Preparing fresh, cooked meals locally
- Distributing directly to displaced and low-income families
- Prioritizing the most vulnerable households
- Ensuring safe and dignified delivery
These are not dry food rations.
They are ready-to-eat hot meals, delivered at the time of Maghrib when families need them most.
Each meal represents:
- Immediate relief
- Physical nourishment
- Emotional comfort
- A reminder that they are not forgotten
Ramadan Is a Month of Multiplied Reward
The Prophet ļ·ŗ said:
"Whoever feeds a fasting person will receive a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest."
Feeding the fasting is one of the most powerful acts of charity in Ramadan.
In Sudan, where hunger is widespread and food insecurity is acute, your Sadaqah or Zakat becomes immediate relief.
Your donation:
- Strengthens a fasting body
- Preserves dignity
- Protects vulnerable families
- Multiplies your reward
Stand With Sudan This Ramadan
Sudan's families are enduring displacement, instability, and hunger.
Ramadan is a time of mercy.
Let your mercy reach them.
Sudan
What Is Happening
War has emptied whole neighborhoods in Sudan. Families who had a home in the morning are sleeping somewhere else by the evening, and the markets that used to feed them are closed, looted, or priced out of reach.
What UMMA Is Doing
We work with local kitchens and volunteers who are already inside these communities. Together we cook and hand out hot meals, and we go back to the same places so families can count on it. Your donation buys the ingredients, the fuel, and the transport.
Common Questions
Is my donation secure?
Card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. We see the amount, the campaign and the receipt address, nothing else.
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes, to the extent allowed by law. You receive a receipt for every donation, and all of them are in My Donations, in the UMMA app or your dashboard on the web.
Can I give my Zakat to UMMA?
Yes, and only to campaigns marked Zakat eligible. Zakat is restricted to the categories in Surah At Tawbah (9:60), so UMMA will not let it be applied anywhere else. If no eligible campaign is open, we say so rather than route it elsewhere.
How do you decide where donations go?
Donations go to the campaign you choose, and that campaign shows its own progress. If you donate without choosing one, funds go where the need is greatest at that moment.
Can I cancel a recurring donation?
Yes, at any time, in My Donations in the UMMA app or on the web. No email and no phone call. Gave without an account? The link in your receipt email cancels it.
Something went wrong with my donation. Who do I tell?
Email hello@ummafoundation.org with the receipt number and a person replies. Refunds follow the refund policy on this site.
What happens if this campaign does not reach its goal?
The work carries on with what was raised. Donations are not held back waiting for a total and they are not moved to another campaign: they go to this one, and the progress bar shows exactly where it stands.
What happens if it raises more than its goal?
It keeps accepting donations and the extra goes to the same work. A goal is what we planned for, not a cap on the need, and a campaign that has passed its goal is still the campaign you chose.
