About

In Yemen, Bread Is Not a Given. We Are Making Sure It Is.

Yemen has been living through one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world for years. This Ramadan, our teams are on the ground distributing bread and food parcels directly to the children and families who need them most. We are in the last 10 nights, the most powerful giving window of the year. Your Zakat has never had a more urgent place to land.

They Came With Nothing. They Left With Something to Eat.

In Yemen, children sit on the ground barefoot, holding food parcels that weigh almost as much as they do. They do not ask for much. They never have. They just need something to eat, today, and tomorrow, and the day after that.

Years of war and displacement have left millions of Yemeni families without reliable access to food. For these children, Ramadan is not a month of full Iftars and family gatherings. It is a month where survival is still the only goal.

Our teams have been on the ground distributing bread and food parcels directly into the hands of the children and families who need them most. No intermediaries. No delays. Just food, given with care, to people who were waiting for it.

This is what your giving looks like when it reaches Yemen. A girl holding her little sibling in one arm and her food parcel in the other smiling, because today there is something to eat. Two boys standing side by side, each holding what they were just given, knowing that someone somewhere cared enough to send it.

The Last 10 Days of Ramadan in Yemen.

We are in the last 10 nights of Ramadan. The nights that the Prophet ﷺ prepared for more than any other time of year. The nights that contain Laylatul Qadr, a single night worth more than a thousand months. What you give now carries a weight that no other moment in the year can match.

These children should not spend these nights hungry. You can make sure they do not.

"Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from the fasting person's reward in the slightest." - Tirmidhi

Is This Zakat-Eligible?

Yes. Contributions to our Yemen Bread Distribution program are fully Zakat-eligible. Your Zakat goes directly to some of the most vulnerable children and families in the world right now, fulfilling your obligation exactly where it is needed most, at the most spiritually powerful moment of the year.

Your Zakat. Their bread. Tonight.

What Is Happening

A decade of war has left Yemen with a broken economy, a health system running on almost nothing, and millions of people who cannot afford the food that is on the shelves. It is one of the longest emergencies in the world and one of the least reported.

What UMMA Is Doing

We deliver food parcels and fund the medical care people would not otherwise get, working through teams who live in the communities they serve. Your donation pays for supplies and for the treatment behind them.

Common Questions

  • Is my donation secure?

Card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. We see the amount, the campaign and the receipt address, nothing else.

  • Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes, to the extent allowed by law. You receive a receipt for every donation, and all of them are in My Donations, in the UMMA app or your dashboard on the web.

  • Can I give my Zakat to UMMA?

Yes, and only to campaigns marked Zakat eligible. Zakat is restricted to the categories in Surah At Tawbah (9:60), so UMMA will not let it be applied anywhere else. If no eligible campaign is open, we say so rather than route it elsewhere.

  • How do you decide where donations go?

Donations go to the campaign you choose, and that campaign shows its own progress. If you donate without choosing one, funds go where the need is greatest at that moment.

  • Can I cancel a recurring donation?

Yes, at any time, in My Donations in the UMMA app or on the web. No email and no phone call. Gave without an account? The link in your receipt email cancels it.

  • Something went wrong with my donation. Who do I tell?

Email hello@ummafoundation.org with the receipt number and a person replies. Refunds follow the refund policy on this site.

  • What happens if this campaign does not reach its goal?

The work carries on with what was raised. Donations are not held back waiting for a total and they are not moved to another campaign: they go to this one, and the progress bar shows exactly where it stands.

  • What happens if it raises more than its goal?

It keeps accepting donations and the extra goes to the same work. A goal is what we planned for, not a cap on the need, and a campaign that has passed its goal is still the campaign you chose.
