About

Bread is the meal in Lebanon. When the currency collapsed the price of a bag of it did not simply rise, it moved out of reach, and families who were managing a year ago now count loaves.

UMMA Relief buys directly from local bakeries and distributes bread to families who cannot afford it. Buying through the bakeries rather than around them is the point: it keeps bakers in work, keeps the ovens lit, and keeps the supply in the neighborhood instead of trucking it in.

Your donation is measured in loaves. A small one feeds a family for a week. A monthly one keeps a bakery running and a distribution route open.

Lebanon

What Is Happening

Lebanon's currency collapse has put ordinary food out of reach for ordinary families. People who were never poor are counting loaves. The shops are open and the shelves are full, which is its own kind of cruelty.

What UMMA Is Doing

We fund bakeries and distributions that put bread and basic supplies into households every week. Your donation pays for flour, fuel and the delivery that gets it to the families who need it.

Common Questions

  • Is my donation secure?

Card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. We see the amount, the campaign and the receipt address, nothing else.

  • Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes, to the extent allowed by law. You receive a receipt for every donation, and all of them are in My Donations, in the UMMA app or your dashboard on the web.

  • Can I give my Zakat to UMMA?

Yes, and only to campaigns marked Zakat eligible. Zakat is restricted to the categories in Surah At Tawbah (9:60), so UMMA will not let it be applied anywhere else. If no eligible campaign is open, we say so rather than route it elsewhere.

  • How do you decide where donations go?

Donations go to the campaign you choose, and that campaign shows its own progress. If you donate without choosing one, funds go where the need is greatest at that moment.

  • Can I cancel a recurring donation?

Yes, at any time, in My Donations in the UMMA app or on the web. No email and no phone call. Gave without an account? The link in your receipt email cancels it.

  • Something went wrong with my donation. Who do I tell?

Email hello@ummafoundation.org with the receipt number and a person replies. Refunds follow the refund policy on this site.

  • What happens if this campaign does not reach its goal?

The work carries on with what was raised. Donations are not held back waiting for a total and they are not moved to another campaign: they go to this one, and the progress bar shows exactly where it stands.

  • What happens if it raises more than its goal?

It keeps accepting donations and the extra goes to the same work. A goal is what we planned for, not a cap on the need, and a campaign that has passed its goal is still the campaign you chose.
